English term or phrase:edge image detail
Hallo,
Cardiac Enhancement Filters: Noise reduction filters, providing three levels of image filtration while preserving of edge image detail coupled with patient dose reduction of up to 30%.
Was meint ihr?
Also doch schlampiges Englisch.

Yes, but in Asker's text, that's not what it is about: it is not a question here of ENHANCING the edges (though that may well be involved in a different part of the image processing), but of PRESERVING them as the image is filtered (which basically has the effect of softening it, removing fine detail, which if not addressed would have the effect of degrading edges). I am a digital image processing specialist, and the distinction to be made here maybe be subtle, but IS important.

I suggested the term 'image edge enhancement' because it's actually being used in this context to try and get sharper 3 D images.
It is poorly-written EN throughout, and I think they mean 'image edge detail' — in other words, the detail in the edges contained in the image. Trying to filter out 'noise' and other unwanted artefacts, while preserving clean (= sharp) edges. I don't believe it is about 'edge detection' here — unless that is relevant to your wider context?

Aren't you looking for English to German? Or is this a question of understanding. Elegant English it is not.

Edge detection
Explanation: As you suspect, "edge image detail" is poor English and should most probably be "Edge detection".
