English term or phrase: gadget
Bonjour,

Je pense à "terminal" ou "appareil".

La phrase complète est :

The following information is collected by Google Analytics: browser, type of xxgadgetxx, model of xxgadgetxx, location, country, city, service provider, screen resolution (on mobile), time on website, language, operating system, visited pages on website.

Il n'est pas impossible que mon texte ait été écrit par un Allemand, voire par un Suisse.

D'avance, merci pour votre aide.

Explanation:
I think you're right! This must have been written by a non-native, as it's obvious the word they really ought to have used was 'device'; 'gadget' would be quite wrong here in both EN and FR, since in the computing sense it refers to something quite different, whereas in the general sense, 'gadget' in EN would be rather derogatory, and even in FR too, unless humorous! « Bof, ça ne sert à rien, ce n'est qu'un gadget ! » — I don't think you'd probably use it in that sense about your latest iPhone :-)

By the way, there is another, informal usage of 'gadget' in EN, which i don't think is at work here (though it does depend on the style of the rest of your text) — but it might explain the mis-use by a non-native speaker.
Apart from the commonest meaning of 'a little thing that does something ingenious' (though often pointless!), it can also be sometimes used as a generic reference to some item of equipment, like a 'wotsit' or a 'thingamajig' — in the same way we might say « À quoi ça sert, donc, ce machin... ? »

Clearly, this highly informal register would appear out of keeping with the short extract of text we see before us. But it's not difficult to see how a foreigner might have got them from 'device', without fully appreciating the register.
