The word 'plant' is ambiguous, and I suspect may have a different meaning in each of the 2 instances in the source text.

The first occurrence does clearly mean a works where electricity is produced — a 'centrale'; but the second instance is less clear-cut: it could still mean a 'centrale', but I suspect here it has narrowed down to the specific type of generating set ('equipment' or 'plant') being used within the centrale. It's hard to be sure from the source text, but that would be my instinctive reading — not least, because one might reasonably expect a 'centrale' to have more than one generating set.

More of the wider context might help to make it clearer!
