jerrykannu/bensiinikanisteri Explanation: Jerrican or jerry can or jerrycan is very often translated as jerrykannu. It can also be jerrykanisteri but jerrykannu is used much more often. Besides when referred to, most people immediately get a certain image in their head of the looks of the container. Usually, they hold 10-20 litres. Petrol can is bensiinikanisteri or the slightly less used bensiinikannu. I believe I would use bensiinikanisteri as the most formal one of these. Jerrykannu and bensiinikanisteri are pretty much equivalent, jerry only refers to a certain type still in use for instance by the Finnish army. |
