English term or phrase: gombroon
Greetings,

Please see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_pottery

I quote:
‘Iranian pottery (sometimes known as gombroon) production presents a continuous history from the beginning of Iranian history until the present day.’

I should imagine that ‘gombroon’ is a loanword from Persian, and it is the source of the loanword which I am seeking. Please give full details of pronunciation.

In case of any difficulty (this may be an extremely obscure word in Modern Persian) I should point out that it is probably identical with the former name of Bandar-e Abbās.

All the best, and many thanks,

Simon
