English term or phrase: Hidrellez
Hi,

I think this is now acceptable as English, although it came via Turkish; however, as the main feature involves jumping over fires, I am wondering if it may have Zarathustrian origin - isn't fire sacred to Zarathustrians?

Persian (Farsi) translation:روز خضز
Explanation:
Hidrellez is not an Iranian or Zarathustrian name. It is the name of a holly day in Azerbaijan and some parts of Turkey. It is the day that prophet Khizr (خضر) met the earth.
To answer your question I have to say that fire is very sacred for Zarathustrians and they have a day that jump on fire and wear special white clothes and celebrate. That ceremony is called جشن سده /jashn e sade/ Sadeh Ceremony.
