Ecotoerisme is toerisme waarbij behoud van natuur, cultuur en mensenrechten centraal staat. Veel toeristische gebieden zien vervuiling en verlies van cultuur toenemen. Een steeds grotere groep mensen wil geen schadelijke gevolgen teweegbrengen als ze met vakantie is.
Ecotoeristische initiatieven zijn bijvoorbeeld:
Direct bij de lokale boeren een eerlijke prijs betalen voor biologisch verbouwde groenten en vlees.
Een deel van de winst geven aan een lokaal weeshuis.
Beperking van de vervuiling die men veroorzaakt.
De definitie van een vakantie die onder ecotoerisme valt is discutabel. Er zijn verschillende eco-labels die hotels, resorts, trekkings, etc. keuren op hun zorg voor de omgeving.

Oliver Simões Suponho que no caso de algumas profissões, essa alternância de termos não se aplique. A OAB, por exemplo, tem o seu conselho federal, que é diferente da Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil enquanto instituição. Entendo que o conselho é um grupo de pessoas (geralmente eleitas) dentro da instituição. Mas, como o uso da língua é imprevisível, pode ser que algumas instituições estejam embolando o campo.
