Ik ben werkzaam in de telecom wereld en the Engelse term 'switch' betekend telefoon centrale. Een 'telephone centre' is een plaats waar mensen de inkomende telefoon gesprekken beantwoorden in Engels 'contact centre'

Met de huidige technologie hoeven agenten (de mensen die de gespreken beantwoorden) niet langer op dezelfde plaats te werken en veel bedrijven spreiden hun agenten over een geografisch gebied (zelfs wereldwijd) en zo een lokatie is dan een bij-kantoor
