f you stick to the present tense when you’re supposed to make a choice, or if you talk only of Right and Wrong when the argument should be about what’s the best choice, you commit a foul. Don’t take me for a hypocrite here. Sticking to the present tense and to values is not Wrong. It just makes deliberative argument impossible. You can’t achieve a consensus; you can only form a tribe and punish the wrongdoers. Another way to foul up deliberation is to argue simply to humiliate an opponent.

I have used this word on purpose since, in my view, it is closer to dialectics ......which, I assume from the heading, figure in your context as well....
