hottest collectable computers
Ismail, a former software engineer, never scrapped any of his old machines and began picking up those that other people were throwing away. About seven years ago, at a swap meet in Livermore, a bookseller overheard him talking to a friend about old computers. Turns out, the book vendor had an Apple Lisa-1 cluttering his office that he wanted to get rid of. Introduced in 1983, that particular Apple model is significant because it was the first computer to have a graphic interface. Ismail traveled 90 miles to the owner’s Sacramento office for the “{exciting score}.” The vendor gave Ismail the computer for free. Today the Apple Lisa is valued at $10,000--roughly the same price it sold for 23 years ago.
