I didn't make my decision based on GOOGLE SATISTICS, I did READ the contents of the website and compare both terms to see which term is more COMMONLY USED. When you look into the websites of some Car Rental Companies above, you understand clearly that 代用车 is a car borrowed from the car company when your own car is under maintenance.

While I checked 借用车in the websites on the link your provided, I didn't get this meaning . It simply means the car is borrowed from someone else, maybe from a friend or whoever else. That's why I found 代用车 is much more convincing in this case.

For your further information, if we had "alternate/substitutional vehicle", we would translate to "代用車"... ...and alternate transportation-->替代交通方式......Hope you have a better arrangement:-)

对租赁双方来说，这代用车其实就是借用车。谁都知道这代用车不可能是免费赠送的，而是暂时借给用户使用的。所以，我觉得使用“代用车”并不觉得有什么不对。

So, first thank you for your further information. Since these two items are in a unique list, they should not be overlapped by the coverage, that's for sure! And as I have mentioned, 借用或租賃車輛都可用作代用車, the translation of 代用車 here will sure make confusions.

Actually I googled both answers and realised that 代用车 is more commonly used as a "term", I know both of them work and I don't disagree with 借用車 (That's originally what I translated as well) but then, I decided to adopt a more common term.

這兒就應該是指：借用車輛。可能是借朋友的車，也可能是因維修等其他原因借來暫時代步的車輛。
