Recently, a study was undertaken on PDMA practitioners which asked them about gates and gate decisions in their respective organizations. Based on responses from more than 400 new product professionals, the following questions are offered for managing risk during NPD projects.

The PAC (project approval committee вероятно) or gatekeeper team should consist of a different set of individuals than those actually conducting the NPD activities.

Hold gate meetings in virtual space, rather than physical space, using asynchronous (i.e. one-way) communication methods. Most organizations hold gate meetings "face-to-face" (i.e. with PAC members in the same physical location). However, research suggests that managers make better NPD continuation/termination decisions if they are not physically located in the same room at the same time.
