Kolkata court ordered to initiate criminal proceedings gainst Sharad Pawar, India's agriculture Minister. I don't need a literal translation of the verb "to order". I need a legal bengali term used in such cases. Thank you

agree  Quamrul Islam: 'To order' has the most usual Bengali meaning: আদেশ দেয়া, and it is used so in formal statements. On the other hand, আদেশ প্রদান করা is just an elaboration of the term, and nothing more. BUT নির্দেশ দেওয়া in Bengali means 'to direct', NOT 'to order'.

neutral  SUJATA GUPTA: in above sentence নির্দেশ দেয় is more fitted

-> I don't think so. We deal frequently with sentences like this one and always use "আদেশ দেয়". However, thanks for giving your opinion.

According to আইন-শব্দকোষ compiled by Muhammad Habibur Rahman and Anisuzzaman, order is আদেশ, there is special term for legal cases.

to order
আদেশানুসারে

Explanation:
This is single word that is commonly used in the notifications. Literally translated to Bengali this would mean "as per the order". The "to order" does not have an equivalent single word in Bengali. I found this word in legal notifications published in newspapers etc. But to use this you must change the tone of the sentence as "According to the order of High Court/As per the High Court's order etc". Hope this helps.
