شريط أو غشاء أو طبقة خارجية Explanation: Awadh, you really need to check with your client about the nature of this "screed" because the term can be used in many different ways. originally, this term simply meant a cloth ribbon or strip. It later acquired the meaning of something thin, narrow, and long. It did not matter whether it was made of cloth, wood, metal, plastic, or cement. In some specialized applications, it is used specifically for: 1. the outer thin layer of a structure; or 2. a strip used to ensure the flatness or alignment of a structure. In either case, it refers to a thin or shallow object. It can even be used figuratively for speech or discourse. A long, shallow, meandering, or boring letter, essay, lecture, or speech can also be called "a screed," just as we use the expression شريط in Arabic. For example, my answers to many questions on ProZ.com are screeds. The object in your context is probably some kind of a thin object, but is it the outer layer of a structure, or is it a thin, narrow, long object? The translation will depend on the shape of this object and how it relates to the total structure. That is why you need to check with your client. |
