Please note that the word "common" here describes the interface itself and NOT the gateway, which is a common misconception.

Also, PC Magazine, which is basically the No.1 Arabic computer magazine, never translates or transliterates the acronym. It simply leaves it as it is, i.e. CGI in Latin letters.

البرمجيات البوابية هي شيفرات برمجية بلغات برمجة مختلفة، تقوم البوابة بمعالجة كل منها على حدة حسب لغة البرمجة الخاصة بها، ولذلك فالبوابة لا يجوز لها أن تكون مشتركة. ولذلك قام (حلف الشبكة العنكبوتية الدولية) - وهو اتحاد من كبار المبرمجين المتطوعين لإيجاد صيغ مقياسية للإنترنت - بتكوين واجهة مشتركة تسمح لمختلف لغات البرمجة بالوصول إلى البوابة، ومن ثم تقوم البوابة بمعالجة كل برنامج حسب لغته.

أي أنه، بصورة أخرى، يمكننا القول أن "واجهة البوابة" ككل هي المشتركة، في حين أن البوابة نفسها لا يصح لها أن تكون مشتركة وإلا لما استطاعت معالجة مختلف البرمجيات التي تصلها. صدقنى أنا لم أقصد التنطع أو التذاكي عندما كتبت تعليقي الأول، وإنما كتبته فقط بغرض التوضيح. تحياتي لك، وأعتذر على الإطالة

الموضع حامي، لكن مجرد توضيح بسيط. الموضوع ليس له علاقة بالواجهة، لأنه ليس هناك واجهة من الأساس.

CGI هو عبارة عن بروتوكول يسمح بتلاقي المستخدمين مهما اختلفت برامجهم (أو أنظمتهم) على خادم ويب، ولذلك هو بروتوكول يسمح بالعبور المشترك للبرامج من خلاله.

بمعني أوضح: البيانات متواجدة على الخادم بشكل ما، والمستخدمون يطلبونها لتأتي إليهم.. فكيف تكون الحال لو أنك تستخدم إنترنت إكسبلورر وأنا أوبرا وهذا نيتسكيب؟ أو أنا ماكنتوش وأنت لينكس وهو ويندوز؟ إذا كان الحل أن تكون الصفحات مهيئة للتعامل بشكل ما مع جميع البرامج والأنظمة، وهو ما استوجب ظهور هذا البروتوكول أو إذا أردت أن تقول التقنية أو التكنيك ...

أرجو أن أكون قد أوضحت الأمور بشكل أو بآخر

ملحوظة أخيرة: هذا البروتوكول طبعًا في سبيله للاندثار بعد ظهور الـ ASP التي تعتمد على طريقة مختلفة في التعامل بين الخادم والجهاز العميل.

Asker: Hi Ahmad. First of all, was waiting for client feedback for the other question. Sorry for the delay. Your suggestion is the one. Me too I wrote the famous "Hello world" using Perl. I know a little bit about CGI. I do believe that there is an interface BUT It's nothing without Gateway scripts and programs which handle the requests. It's an intermediate between the server and the end applications which send back responses to the interface which in turn redirect them to the server then through the internet they are sent to the browser and hence end user.
