I am currently working on a marine/nautical translation concerning observation errors (systematic errors, random errors etc), and am having problems with the above term.

The context is as follows:

De verzeiling wordt bepaald met behulp van een (gyro)kompas, een log en de geschatte stroom en drift. Hierdoor ontstaan fouten ten opzichte van de GrK en grondvaart, die zich gedragen volgens de normale foutenverdeling. Ten gevolge van fouten in de gebruikte tc. of misw., de toegepaste drift, fouten in de geschatte stroom, dode zone stuurautomaat enz. is de gevaren GrK. foutief ten opzichte van de GrK in de kaart.Fouten in de logvaart, toegepaste stroom, afregelen stuurautomaat, stampen van het schip, aangroeiing enz. beïnvloeden de geschatte grondvaart.
