Dutch term or phrase: opstapper
Ik zoek de engelse vertaling van het woord 'opstapper' in de zin van 'iemand die aan boord meevaart maar geen bemanningslid is'. Het gaat in dit geval om onderzoekers en/of hun assistenten. Crew is dus wat te algemeen, passenger dekt ook niet echt de lading. Iemand ideeen?

English translation:any other persons on board
Explanation:
I've come across this myself before, and wasn't able to find an English translation. I ended up using this answer. Eg. "crewmembers and any other persons on board." You could also opt for something like 'members of the research team' in your case.

In reply to your note: Maybe just translate it literally as 'embarker'

Asker: Thanks Olly! It's part of an ABC guide so I'll need some sort of lemma as well, but at least I now know that there's probably no exact english equivalent. Thanks.
