Uitleg van de term in het Nederlands die ik gevonden hebt is als volgt:

ONDER KLASSE GEBOUWD: schip waarbij, door een classificatiebureau, de ontwerpen gekeurd zijn.

VAARWEGKLASSE: a> indeling van vaarwegen, op basis van de maximaal toegelaten scheepsafmetingen. b> indeling van waterwegen of vaargebieden op basis van de voor dergelijke vaargebieden vereiste zeewaardigheid van het schip.

Heeft iemand een idee wat de gangbare term in het Engels is, bij voorbaat dank!

a ship is built under class


Explanation:
when she is completed and sailing, then the ship is IN class. But when she is under construction or you talk about a ship and her classification you say: she is built under class (f.i. she is built under Lloyd's Register class)
