Was een grapje natuurlijk (richting FF). Ik hoop dat je dat snapte. Ik had niet eens een antwoord ingediend zelfs (bepaald niet waarschijnlijk lijkt me) als zou het 'chrismated' zijn geweest. Ik vind het gewoon een interessant onderwerp. Die dingen die Cyril of Jerusalem zegt, dat zijn interessante zinnen bijvoorbeeld. Er zitten taalkundig ook interessante kanten aan. Wat me ook boeit is dat de dingen vaak totaal anders zijn dan zoals je ze automatisch via je je 'christelijke' opvoeding in je opgenomen hebt.

To anoint is to pour or smear with perfumed oil, milk, water, melted butter or other substances, a process employed ritually by many religions. People and things are anointed to symbolize the introduction of a sacramental or divine influence, a holy emanation, spirit, power or God.
The most detailed version of the practice is by Cyril of Jerusalem who details how ointment or oil was "symbolically applied to the forehead, and the other organs of sense" and that the "ears, nostrils, and breast were each to be anointed." Cyril states that the "ointment is the seal of the covenants" of baptism and God’s promises to the Christian who is anointed. Cyril taught that being "anointed with the Holy anointing oil [Chrism] of God" was the sign of a Christian (Christos means "anointed"), and a physical representation of having the Gift of the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost), and it retains this meaning in Catholicism and Orthodoxy today. He says, "Having been counted worthy of this Holy Chrism, ye are called Christians, verifying the name also by your new birth. For before you were deemed worthy of this grace, ye had properly no right to this title, but were advancing on your way towards being Christians."(On the Mysteries 3.5)

Chrismation is the name given in Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox and Eastern Catholic churches, as well as in the Assyrian Church of the East initiation rites, to the sacrament or mystery more commonly known in the West as confirmation, although Italian normally uses cresima (chrismation), rather than confermazione (confirmation).
The term chrismation is used because the recipient of the sacrament is anointed with Chrism, which according to eastern Christian belief, the Apostles sanctified and introduced for all priests to use as a replacement for laying on of hands by the Apostles and consists of a "mixture of forty sweet-smelling substances and pure olive oil" sanctified by a bishop with some older Chrism added in, in the belief that some trace of the initial Chrism sanctified by the Apostles is contained therein.

Ik ben misschien geen 'ervaringdeskundige' in the Holy Spirit maar wel zeer geïnteresseerd in things spiritual. Heb ook diverse vertalingen op dat gebied gedaan. 'Confirmation' kende ik niet, wel leuk om te weten.

Het vormsel (in het Latijn confirmatio, van het werkwoord firmare = bevestigen) is een sacrament waardoor een gedoopte de kracht van de Heilige Geest ontvangt om zijn geloof standvastig te kunnen belijden. Het vormsel is gebaseerd op de apostolische leer en de Bijbel (Hand. 8:14-17; Ef. 4:30).
Bedankt voor de nuttige info - ik ben Orthodox Christen en er zijn en aantal verschilpunten tussen de rooms-katholieke Kerk en de Oosters-orthodoxe Kerk (ook in verband met het vormsel).
