basically 'schotelen' means 'hol gaan staan'

I give you a few examples pertaining to wood and concrete below

the English word 'to cup' means according to van Dale 'tot een kom vormen' and 'tot een kom vormen' can also be understood as 'hol gaan staan'

apparently 'schotelen' is translated as 'cupping' (see below)

makes sense to me
