Also just found the term "effectschatter" in another doc of mine.

I just sent a question to the client (whom I am thankfully able to contact, and who is also the author), and will report back if I learn anything interesting. Thanks for all the help!

About 'schatter effect'.

They just added 'effect' to 'schatter' in order to maintain the language of this paragraph.

What this means is, the effect on the basis of the relative risk

Look at the figures, what you see is the relative risks and their CIs

Googling, I also found quite a few references to the term ‘relative risk estimator’, which leads to me to believe that the term ‘risicoschatter’ might be the same thing.

Yes, that is what I was wondering last night too. I suspected that (sometimes) ‘risicoschatter’ (as a number) meant ‘relative risk (RR)’. Will have to give this some more thought.

In that same document (http://tinyurl.com/z8ljcof ), in another table they then also mention the term ‘schatter effect’:

‘Schatter effect: Gemiddeld effect: -0,04 (-0,25; +0,16) voor bier, -0,05 (-0,15;

Scientific evidence of benefit from moderate alcohol drinking only began to accumulate in the last part of the 20th century. Since the proposal of a “French paradox” in the early Nineties, the possibility that consuming alcohol might confer a protection against coronary artery disease was extensively investigated; the question whether wine be a better protecting beverage than beer or spirits was addressed by a large meta-analysis, published in 2011.

Ik denk dat 'schatter' in 'risicoschatter' inderdaad (binnen het geringe aantal hits voor 'risicoschatter' en dan nog veel dezelfde ook) vaak verwijst naar een getal.

In dat geval heeft 'schatter' niet de betekenis van het statistische begrip 'schatter (estimator)'.

Dat is geen getal maar een rekenvoorschrift.

Als ze een richting hebben, is het zeker een statistisch begrip. Ik denk dat het verwarring kan scheppen omdat het woord ook in abstracte zijn gebruikt kan worden, en soms in beide betekenissen tegelijkertijd. Ik zou het nu zo gauw niet meer weten. Misschien kom ik er nog aan toe het op te zoeken. Succes.

Here it appears to refer to an entire vragenlijst, etc. In my text, I think it is probably an actual number.

I think the term ‘risicoschatter’ is here being used to mean sth similar to Lianne's ‘risk calculator’.

I assume the term ‘risicoschatter’ is some kind of statistical term, probably with a very specific meaning.
