Dutch to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Insurance / fire
Dutch term or phrase: brandbeeld
A house fire was extinguished by the fire department. Time for the fire investigators to come in and report on the cause. They identify it, and in their report they mention that, "...given the _________ we encountered, the point of origin of the fire was...."

The best I could come up with was "fire scene" but I am unsure about it.

neutral  Ron Willems: I'd say it's rather the condition/characteristics/??? of the fire itself, rather than the premises // you're right that the brandbeeld can be determined after the fire, not (just) during. I hadn't thought of that. still, premises seems too liberal to me..

-> Hmm. But after a fire is 'geblust', the fire is no longer there, only the traces of the fire, i.e., its marks in the premises. Perhaps we would need to ask an English speaking fire fighter;)
