claim for "transferred/shifted" damage/expense/loss

Explanation:
ie incurred by close family members as a direct result of their involvement in taking care of the injured insured party but which could have been incurred by injured party him/herself.
A bit complicated concept. Really need to see all the details to get the English more concise.
Keep the NL term and explain in English- )have thought of many different terms (consequential damage/claim, indirect etc. but none fit the context).

verplaatste schade
special damages (compensation)

Explanation:
This is covered by "special damages" in the UK, e.g.

"Special damages compensation can also cover:

* damage to clothing or other belongings;
* the cost of medical treatment;
* travel costs to hospital for you and visiting relatives;
* ongoing care, therapy or counselling to help you recover from or cope with your injury; and
* the cost of hiring a car or repairing the one damaged in an accident. "

To follow up on Writeaway's valid point: If the claimant is submitting a claim which includes, for instance, costs incurred by relatives - and this claim is part of a claim for other damages made by the claimant - then theses are "special damages". If a separate claim is made by these relatives then as Writeaway has pointed out it's not really covered. In either case I would include the Dutch in brackets (again as suggested by Writeaway).

The example below highlights a claim for "verplaatste schade" / special damages as part of a principal claim for damages:

neutral  writeaway: not the same as the definition for 'verplaatste schade' given above or on the www and the actual definition given for 'special damages' only covers the insured party. not the same thing as the NL imho/is only my opinion/read & discussion is healthy ;-

  -> I don't necessarily agree (in the nicest possible way, of course). Claims for "verplaatste schade" may be made alongside other damages made by the claimant, and therefore would fall under "special damages". See for instance the ref I added. :-)
