Insurance / claimbewust
Dutch term or phrase: Claimbewust
Context: Personal injury claim assessment.

Sentence:

claim conscious
Explanation:
America is one of the most claim conscious and litigious societies in the world . . . I read that some place, and years ago worked for an insurance company.

The idea is that people are always looking for someone to sue anytime they have an accident or are hurt in some way.

"People have become very claim conscious and are looking around every corner for opportunities to make a claim. Often in our various dealings [280] with people in our constituencies we hear people boasting at pub counters about the amount they are going to get out of an insurance claim.

non-litigious

Explanation:
http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/other/alrc/publications/issues/...
Promoting a non-litigious environment
18.4 Further efforts could be made to encourage a non-litigious environment. Potential litigants could be given incentives to use non-litigious approaches to resolve disputes. Aside from promoting pre-litigation options, the notion that litigation is a last resort that should be used only when special circumstances are present could be emphasised within the community, for example, within educational institutions, in business and in the workplace.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks for your note Jarry, obviously if 'claimbewust' is claim conscious, then the 'niet' party means that the person in the context is not claim conscious. I had considered using your answer but it seemed a little bit too formal to fit in with the rest of the text. But thank you anyway.

agree  Suzan Hamer: Actually, Jarry, you're right; non-litigious is the definition of "claim conscious." So I gave the target term and you have provided the definition. Can we split points?

-> Unfortunately there is no way (yet) for points to be split Suzan. In addition, you gave a translation of 'claim bewust', not of 'NIET claimbewust' :-)
