Dutch term or phrase: Linieschip

Voor de X is een nieuw scheepsembleem ontworpen. In de historie van de Koninklijke Marine bestond er nog geen “X”, wel is er sprake van een linieschip in de tijd van de Bataafse republiek.
Van Dale noemt 'ship of the line'. Zijn er kenners die nog een andere term weten?

... Dat had je zelf ook al gezien, maar "ship of the line" is de gebruikelijke term voor het soort grote oorlogsschepen met meerdere geschutsdekken, die in een linie liggen om tegelijk te schieten

The name 'liner' derives from 'Ship of The Line'. A liner was a major warship capable of taking its place in the Royal Navy's tactical 'Line of Battle' of the sailing era.

@Christopher: The Online Etymology Dictionary seems to indicate that the meaning of "ship belonging to a shipping line" dates from 1838, whereas the meaning of "line-of-battle ship" is much older.
