Kitty Brussaard: From what I can see, the source term 'het op dag houden' seems to be a very literal translation of 'la tenue à jour' rather than a common Belgian Dutch expression. See also the discussion box. As you were first, you deserve the points.

writeaway: it's phraseology that we avoid in English. Very cumbersome and unnatural. the first answer perfectly covers the translation -what distinction? This is everyday terminology. In Belgium anyway

-> Sorry you feel that way. I needed to distinguish from the previous answer. I would not use it 'as is' in a translation, but the question was 'op dag houden', not the entire sentence.
