All right, it looks obvious enough, I know: "renovation projects". My only reason for slight doubt is that this occurs in a context dealing with waste disposal, as follows:
"Wij registreren afvalstromen conform EURAL codes in gevaarlijk (olieverontreinigde grond, PCBs, etc.) versus niet-gevaarlijk (metaal, hout, etc.). In 2010 bedroeg de totale hoeveelheid afval 1.855 ton, waarvan 31% gevaarlijk. Dit komt overeen met een stijging van bijna 29% ten opzichte van 2009. Belangrijke oorzaken zijn een verbeterde registratie op hoogspanningsstations in Nederland die worden gedeeld met regionale netbeheerders en een intensivering van renovatieprojecten in Duitsland."
Could "renovatie" ever be used in the sense of waste disposal, like "renovation" in Danish? None of the dictionaries I've consulted, on or off line, seem to think so, and yet "renovation" in its non-Danish acceptation doesm't seem quite to make sense here - unless ion the understanding that, when you renovate something (we're not told what), you're likely to have a lot of rubbish to get rid of.

Explanation:
Never ever have I seen 'renovatie' in a waste-disposal context. I think the word you are thinking of is something like 'sanering' which means to get rid of nasty things in the ground for example. Like taking the top layer off a plot of land because it has been polluted before building houses on it.
