Explanation:
He takes his sadness/frustration out on everyone in the house or around him. It's more common to take frustration out on people around you than sadness - as it is not quite in the nature of sadness itself to take itt out on others, like anger and frustration. But that would be my judgment of the source as well. Plains sadness is sadness, 'taking it out on' suggests some kind of conversion, typical for anger and frustration.
