cameo part Explanation: Not very sure about this term, but I would go with the 'cameo' version as 'edel' indicates a higher value. A cameo part or appearance is usually taken by a famous actor or personality (sometimes playing themselves) who appears very briefly but long enough enough to be recognised by the viewers. extras Explanation: Although I agreed with 'bit part', this seems a bit more neutral and less derogatory, somehow. |

bit part Explanation: Het is inderdaad een kleine rol: handeling, dan wel regel(s) tekst. Iets meer dan enkel figureren, ofwel in beeld verschijnen. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 13 uren (2009-01-20 11:22:40 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Although I myself would prefer to say I was an 'edelfigurant' (nice word!) than that I had a bit part, I think you do have to make a distinction from just being an extra, which would be 'figurant'. Walk-on seems to be somewhat the same as bit part, but for some reason I associate it more with the theatre. In the sentence given you could certainly go with 'actors for the supporting roles'.
