Here is the context:

Inden for udviklingspsykologien bruges begreberne at afstemme og at omstemme til at beskrive dele af det følelsesmæssige samspil, der foregår mellem det lille barn og dets omsorgsgiver.

At afstemme vil sige, at eksempelvis moderen er i stand til at aflæse barnets sindsstemning og derudfra møde det med en passende følelsesmæssig afstemning. Det kan f.eks. være ved at udtrykke samme begejstring, glæde eller frustration som barnet udviser. At omstemme vil ligeledes sige, at moderen kan aflæse barnet og møde det hvor det er, men herefter gør hun noget, som kan hjælpe barnet videre til en ny sinds-tilstand og en anden måde at have det på.


I successfully determined that "afstemme" refers to "attunement", but try as I might I could not find anything conclusive for "omstemme".... Any help would be much appreciated.
