Den svenske konge Karl 10. Gustav udbedrede skaderne på slottet, men blandt andet blev den øverste del af Kanontårnet ikke genopført. Der blev i stedet anlagt et kanondæk. De fleste af Kronborgs kunstskatte blev taget med til Sverige som krigsbytte. Det var den svenske dronning Hedvig Eleonore, der stod for at udvælge sine nye ejendele.

I haven't found a definition of kanondæk (in a castle) anywhere.
