Danish term or phrase: Justitsministeriets område
I'm translating a CV where this comes up.
Specifically I'm not sure about the område part.
The Ministry of Justice's area?

Context: Diverse personaleadministrative opgaver som f.eks. beskikkelse og honorering af personer, der bestrider særlige hverv på Justitsministeriets område (kommissioner, udvalg, råd og nævn) og administration af departementets ordning for merarbejde.

The term Justitsministeriets departement also appears in the same doc:
Sommerfuldmægtig i Justitsministeriets departement.

Any help appreciated!
Michael Purvis

hverv på Justitsministeriets område

Explanation:
Prefixing with the preposition of på focuses the 'range' of alternatives in- or outside the terms of area or scope.

Otherwise, remit or purview...

Example sentence(s):
  • Each ministry is led and represented by a minister, who also issues regulations and other decrees and adopts decisions related to the ministry's remit.

remit, purview

Explanation:
I just thought I would mention that these words could also be applied here if you feel like using something more legalese than area.

the scope of authority of the Ministry of Justice

Explanation:
Seems slightly more idiomatic to me.
(Not that I don't like "remit" or "purview".)
"scope of authority of the Ministry of" gets 481000 Google hits
Alternative: In the present context I would prefer "area of authority of the Ministry of Justice", but Google demurs, giving only one hit. (I still prefer it.)

(To anticipate some criticism: As mentioned I myself would disfavor "scope", but I also am generally hesitant to rewrite the (any) author.)

neutral  Christopher Schröder: Actually you get 20 hits, not 481,000. You need to watch Google on that. If we want to be idiomatic, we could try a preposition beginning with "u"...
