In an 1849 birth record from Southern Bohemia, the father of a child is listed as: “František Míka, sedlák, patř. k pravomocnosti V. Čišeck, syn Jana Míky…” The name "Čišeck" is cut off on the record, so I'm not sure if that name is complete or not. I'm also not sure if it's a person or place, since I'm not sure how to translate "pravomocnost." This František Míka was not listed as a "svobodník" (freeholder), like most of the others on the record. I can only guess that he "belonged to" a particular farmer as a subtenant or something of that nature? Any clues will be greatly appreciated!

Stuart Hoskins Apr 10, 2016: two cents In the absence of any other suggestions, Čišecký is a person and "patř. k pravomocnosti" would have been "in thrall to" in the Middle Ages, but I can't pin down the 19th-century equivalent (servitude?).
