Simon Explanation: Bear in mind the purpose of your text. It is about monastery in today's Czech Republic, and I assume very little has been written about the friar in English. So if your English speaking readers wish to look up more details, they would probably end up with resources mainly in Czech and Polish. Therefore, it is a good idea to keep the name as similar as possible to the original to make any further research easier. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 27 mins (2015-12-03 15:56:27 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- after reading other responses, I suggest mentioning the Polish spelling variant (Szymon) as well - a wise client should actually appreciate such intervention :)) |
