Pokud jde o časosběrnou dokumentaristiku nebo výzkum sledující sledované v řádu let, jde o tzv longitudinal study, nebo longitudinal documentary.
Rozmezí několika málo let je na spodní hranici použití tohoto termínu, nicméně je to nejvhodnější stručný název.
