strip-style Explanation: I'm pretty sure of what this refers to, though exact terminology might depend on context. A "strip" is a coding tool where, for example, on one side of the strip is a list of numbers and on the other side of the strip is a list of letters (or symbols or whatever). During any given period of time the "strip" is set in a certain way so that certain numbers correspond to certain letters. Sometimes the strip will change and one side or the other will slide to the new strip position or an altogether new strip of numbers or letters will be inserted, thus changing the code. It's super basic encoding, though there are very complex variations and methods of changing the strip... decoder rings from cereal boxes are the simplest form.... Hope that helps you get an idea. Hope I'm on the right track! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 10 mins (2009-10-05 17:33:18 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- at least, that's what WE called it... maybe there is a more technical designation... |

intensity meter Explanation: 条 it's the measure word (used for objects longer than their width). 密 means "density" or "intensity". 式 it's a measuring instrument. I think it's part of one of those measuring devices used by the army to catch and translate whispered conversations. Hope that helps! |

I think what Aaron described is more like 纵横坐标式. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day3 hrs (2009-10-06 20:43:55 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Sorry, I've been off line for a while.
