Thank you. It appears to me that a second tier supplier or a tier 2 supplier is the same as a subcontractor. I presume the original Chinese term is a literal translation of second tier supplier or tier 2 supplier, so I have decided to do a reverse translation into "second tier supplier." My thanks to all who have been of great help to me.

agree  Kelvin Wu: I wonder if "secondary supplier" might also work?

-> "Second tier" encompasses "secondary", eg., a secondary supplier would supply parts to make up the products of a primary supplier who then sells to a manufacturer. See the Mazda case in http://www.chugoku-np.co.jp/MAZDA/2/e980203.html. Thanks for asking.

Yes, subcontractor.

Explanation:
The main contractor signs a contract with its' customer. Then it contracts with other suppliers to supply different parts of the contract. These suppliers are subcontractors.

既然中文已经给出“二级供应商”,为什么不用“subsupplier?”
