经理层、管理层 managerial and supervisory levels Explanation: When both terms are used together, 管理层 is definitely lower than 经理层 in the organisational hierarchy. 管 seems to be a more active, labour-intensive type of work activity, whereas 经 connotes an air of passivity, agency, commission, non-activity type of control power rather than activity. If you refer to an English webpage that displays both these terms (search under organisation or organisation structure or management hierarchy), you will find the term manager/supervisor paired together. 经理层、管理层 managers, senior-level managers or senior management Explanation: These two terms are largely interchangeable in the PRC today. But if a distinction must be made -- could well be that these terms were originally from the English -- I would point out that "jingli" is now used for "manager", while "guanli ceng" would include some job titles that are perceived as more senior. For instance, Human Resources Manager would belong to the "manager" level, while a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) could be classified as a senior manager. |
