ear hole-punching Explanation: I'm not aware of any existing translation for this term. But from the descriptions of the process, I understand that it's basically punching a few holes in the piglets' ears (ouch!). Another (less serious) way of translating it would be 'ear piercing' (;-). Best wishes. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 18 hrs (2009-09-28 11:10:51 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I think lai an's suggestion 'ear marking' is much better. I did think of it originally, but I thought it might get confused with the phrase 'to ear-mark', and then my (sometimes active) imagination ran a bit wild. I guess it's ultimately up to the asker to decide which one to use. Reference: http://www.qdxumu.com/zjlt/zjlt2009/zjlt0903/09-2196.htm |

the numbering cuts on pigs' ears Explanation: 小猪耳朵上剪缺口,是该小猪的编号。剪耳法是用耳号钳在猪耳上打缺口,一个耳缺代表一个数字,把几个数字相加,就是该猪的耳号。 Reference: http://www.xumuren.cn/homes/space-17465-do-thread-id-267.htm... |
