Chinese term or phrase: 演妈妈那背的戏
Context: 好几个美女怎么都演妈妈那背的戏了。

I can't wrap my head around the grammar in this sentence. Is it to do with a role in a play, or is it something to do with actresses having children? Any clarification on the meaning of this sentence will be greatly appreciated.

Play mother figure

Explanation:
I think it should be translated as "why is it that several pretty girls all played mother figure".

I think the sentence is referring to pretty, possibly young, girls playing the role of mother in a play. The irony is that these girls are unsuited for the roles, because they are too pretty (possibly too young looking to play a mom). Just my guess, hope it helps.
