Overplant Language variant: Overplanting Explanation: Just FYI, I think the conversation might have a Cantonese slant to it. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 26 mins (2008-05-06 19:25:09 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- It's could be an improvised compound word the speaker formed, or perhaps colloqually and informally used. A combination of 越, meaning 'over, exceed, surpass' and 种 which as a verb means 'to plant, to seed' -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 31 mins (2008-05-06 19:29:32 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Actually, it corresponds to the English etymology, so it's use could have been a literal translation from English. 育种(breeding) Explanation: could 越种 be possbily 育种?The latter makes a little more sense. More context is needed. But I am not sure about it. Just a wild guess. |
