Catalan term or phrase: criança cs. anyada
I am not sure what the difference would be. Don't they both mean aged? Someone suggested "vintage" but that doesn't make any sense to me. Can you plan to make a vintage wine (i.e. only grapes from one year)?

"Cellers Baronia del Montsant elabora actualment 2 vins negres de criança, 1 vi blanc fermentat i criat en barrica de roure francès, 1 negre de curta criança, 1 negre d’anyada i 1 negre dolç criat en barrica. "

Vintage, in wine-making, is the process of picking grapes and creating the finished product. A vintage wine is one made from grapes that were all, or primarily, grown and harvested in a single specified year. In certain wines, it can denote quality, as in Port wine, where Port houses make and declare vintage Port in their best years. From this tradition, a common, though incorrect, usage applies the term to any wine that is perceived to be particularly old or of a particularly high quality.

Crianza Generically this is used to describe any wine that has been aged. Vino de Crianza is the term for a Quality Wine that has been subject to a specific ageing period in wood or in bottle. In order to be classified as a crianza tinto, wine must spend at least 24 months in a cask or bottle, of which at least 12 months should be in oak casks. For blanco and rosado wines the ageing period is 12 months minimum, with at least six months spent in oak casks.

Crianza (Spain)
A term describing the ageing that a wine has undergone. This is the youngest category, which is aged for two years, with at least six months in barrel. Related terms include Reserva and Gran Reserva.
