Catalan term or phrase: Fira del Tortell (URGENT!)
Part of a list of events organized by the towns of Girona. I can't put an explanation because it's a title. I know what the "tortell" is, but the translation offered by Cercaterm and other sources (cake) simply doesn't make the cut. My mind's drawn a blank here, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

All I can suggest is that you leave it in Catalan (maybe in italics) and/or translate it as a 'ring-shaped cake'.

I\'ve also seen it described as an \'O-shaped cake\' but I personally prefer \'ring-shaped\'.

Tortell (Catalan [turt\'eλ]) is a Catalan typically O-shaped pastry stuffed with marzipan, that on some special occasions is topped with glazed fruit.

Below image of a Tortell de Reis, traditionally eaten on January 6, the day of the Three Wise Men according to the Catholic liturgical calendar. This size, approx. 50 cm diameter, usually serves 8 people.

This tortell de reis contains two hidden surprises: a dried fava bean, and a little figurine the same size. The person who gets the figurine in their cut gets to wear the paper crown. The person who gets the dried fava bean in their cut gets to pay for the tortell.


A similar tradition in and around New Orleans, Louisiana is the king cake.
