the old main road Explanation: a "camí ral" is simply an old high road that is (usually) no longer used. We have one that runs past our town. It has an old coaching inn on it and was obviously a hive of activity till the 19th C. when new routes for trains (and later cars) were blasted through the mountains. If you want to maintain the "ramader" section you could add: "the old high road, along which cattle used to be driven" |
