showcases Explanation: According to my paper dictionary, it can also mean 'Obra de vidre, fusta, etc., que guarneix la part de davant d'una botiga i permet l'exposició de mercaderies.' -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 12 mins (2015-02-02 20:26:55 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- https://glosbe.com/ca/en/aparador -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2015-02-02 21:33:27 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- It's just occurred to me that it could refer to the glass cases some restaurant owners put on the walls of their establishments to display the menu. I also think I remember seeing similar showcases on shop façades in the centre of Barcelona. They were screwed onto the wall and contained samples of whatever it was the place sold. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day3 hrs (2015-02-03 23:50:09 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I chose 'showcases' because that is the definition in the glosbe dictionary, but when I was researching the term, I also used 'display cases', which might be a better term for cases that are in the street! 'Showcases' are usually found inside buildings. |
