Catalan term or phrase: clap
My text describes a mixed stand of trees with different sized groups, one of
which is "colp":

diàmetre inferior a 30 metres o superfícies inferiors a 700 m2 (colps)

The next one us is "bosquet":

entre 30-60 metres o superfícies de 700-2800 m2 (bosquets)

And the largest is "clap":

diàmetres compresos entre 60-80 metres o superfícies inferiors a 5000 m2 (claps).

I am not sure what term is used in English for 'clap'. I'm also puzzled about 'colps' but have posted it as a separate question.

Many thanks in advance!

Patch seems to be the word used in general regardless of the size. There are many references on Google to small and large patches. Perhaps "small patch" would work for your other word "colp"

Thanks very much for your answer, John and Cristina for your comment. In the end, I asked a forestry expert in the UK and they advised me to use the term 'large group' to translate 'clap'. Thanks again!

agree  Cristina Connor: I would be very inclined to agree with John..."Petita extensió que es distingeix per alguna cosa de la superfície que l’envolta. Un clap de neu. Un clap de bosc. Un clap de bolets..." and especially bearing in mind that "Colp" is derived from "Cop"
