Albanian term or phrase: mësues provizor
Context:
Mësuese provizore në shkollën 9-vjecare

I have a similar term in the same document: mësuese zëvendësuese. "Provizore" is for a longer period, "zëvendësuese" for a month or two. Is there a real difference?

Thanks a lot! -- I sent the question to my client, too, and she agreed with substitute teacher for both terms. The difference might have its explanation in the fact it was two different schools, and different stages of education.

agree  Erion Sata: In the Albanian Education the teachers are employed in two forms: 1. as full time teachers, aka "të emëruar" in albanian, 2. as substitute teachers who are employed for a definite amount of time aka "Provizor" or "zëvendësues"

provisional teacher

Explanation:
In the UK, a provisional teacher (usually from a different country) is allowed to teach while going through the necessary training and qualification to gain a qualified teacher status (QTS). For those within the UK tranining to be teachers, the first year of teaching is still in the NQT (newly qualifed teacher) status. I don't know if there is something similar in the qualification process in Albania.

Example sentence(s):
  • "... jane mesuesit qe nuk jane te kualifikuar por jane te afte per te dhene mesim ( te ashtuquajturit mesues provizor), ata mund te fitojne nje kontrate per 1 vit, por ..."
  • For a provisional Australian teacher to gain QTS while in the UK, they would need to go through an overseas teacher training program. T

Interim teacher

Explanation:
Hello everyone,
I would like to make a point with regard to the use of the word ‘interim’ as opposed to the use of word ‘provisional’. I would have chosen the word ‘interim’, which in my opinion renders more faithfully the meaning of the word ‘provizorë’. It has been my word of choice since reviewing translations of laws and other legal acts, speaking of interim provisions (dispozita kalimtare, ose ‘dispozita provizore). Thus, whenever ‘provizor’ is used, ‘interim’ comes to mind. Very intriguing is also the difference between the ‘interim’ and ‘ad interim’. ‘ad interim’, usually is used for governments, ministers, people serving without a full mandate, but provided with means and staff!. I have been intrigued about the difference in the use of ‘interim’ and ‘ad interim’.
Thus, my choice: interim teacher
