I don't know the japanese, but in this context the English term means the same as "comparing" or "making appear similar" .

However, it has also the nuance of "by making another participant's products appear similar to ours"

Explanation:
これを同化と訳すと何のことだかわかりませんよね（前後にすでに説明があるのならともかく）、assimilationの一番スタンダードな訳ではありますが。ですがこれには吸収し飲み込んでしまうというネガティヴなもので、この文脈でもそのネガティヴなほうが強調されています。要するにとりこんでしまって、もとの姿を出来るだけ抹殺してしまうという、人類学、社会学でよく使われる言葉です。
これはそういう文面ではなく商業的なものですが、要するに他社の製品へ、自社のものを吸収、とりこんで貰っては困ります、うちのイメージを保持してくださいということと解釈します。

OEDによりますと"regard as similar"というふうになります。この場合、あくまでも憶測にすぎませんが、次のような要領ではないでしょうか：「特に他社(?)の商品と類似・相似したとみなすことは、当社の事前同意なしでは断じてお断りいたします。」もちろん前後の文章とかみ合うかが問題になります。
