Dutch to English translations [PRO]

Dutch term or phrase: peil zuil
This term appears in the wiring diagram of a ship. From the diagram, I deduce it is some kind of equipment. There are two of them, one at each side of the bridge (starboard and port). My guess it that it refers to a fathometer mounted on a pillar/column.
Unfortunately, no further context is available.
