half-ready artifact to be personalised Explanation: In your case the material is paper, and most likely they are talking about stationery or cards. The shape and size is standard to the manufacturer, and there can be different designs, but in the tezt they recommend to standardise the size and position of the design as well. The "blank" comes into it that it is not a final product, it is designed to receive additional text or similar. So, say it is a wedding stationery, with ready made appearance, with two rings tied up with flying ribbons printed in gold. That's the design blank. The customer will reguest the text added to it, X&Z happily anounce, blah blah. The design blank can be anything, teeshirts, mugs, etc. In the paper printing industry the variations are endless. Here is one, which is sold as a design blank, and can be finished off on the home computer: -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr 11 mins (2005-02-11 11:09:48 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Sorry, \"tezt\" should read \"text\". -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs 30 mins (2005-02-11 12:28:56 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- And \"reguest\" is \"request\".
